Do clocks go forward or back in NZ?

In NZDT, daylight saving starts each year at 2am on the last Sunday in September (clocks go forward an hour), and ends at 3am on the first Sunday in April (clocks go back an hour).

Why do we have Daylight Savings NZ?

The main purpose of Daylight Saving Time (called "Summer Time" in many places in the world) is to make better use of daylight. We change our clocks during the summer months to move an hour of daylight from the morning to the evening.

When did daylight saving first start in New Zealand?

New Zealand first introduced daylight saving time in 1927. The current times have been fixed since 2007. 1868 - New Zealand officially set a national standard time - called New Zealand Mean Time - at 11 hours and 30 minutes ahead of Greenwich Mean Time - GMT.
